Convergent Ventures develops and manages academic spin-out companies in the life sciences and engineering and provides focused expertise in specific areas, such as business development, strategic partnering and fund raising. We also advise scientists, engineers, and owner-entrepreneurs on a broad range of issues, including, but not limited to, technology transfer, corporate formation, business strategy, and general management.

Outside of the life sciences, we pursue commercial-stage opportunities that stir our entrepreneurial spirits and draw upon our specialized knowledge. For example, after seeing a compelling demonstration of a new type of impact protection product based on reactive polymers (aka "smart materials"), we created a new company to sell protective gear for athletes and extreme sports enthusiasts.

Convergent Ventures is comprised of the following privately owned companies:
  • Convergent Ventures, LLC, a venture development company
  • Convergent Management, Inc., a consulting firm
  • Convergent Cycling & Performance Products, a marketing & sales management company

Convergent Ventures, LLC was a founding managing member of Convergent Investors, LLC, a $2 million seed-stage fund that created academic spin-outs with technology from Caltech, UCLA, and USC.

The Convergent companies are located on Santa Monica Blvd., on the Westside of Los Angeles.

Convergent Ventures is led by Bill Robbins. A serial entrepreneur and seed investor, Bill began his career in the pharmaceutical industry, transitioned into biotech and medical devices, co-founded a seed-stage life-science fund, managed portfolio companies, and amassed a wealth of industry experience, management insights, and business contacts along the way.
